چکیده
Micro-transfer printing is an emerging assembly technique to deterministically transfer ink comprising micro-/nano-objects from a donor substrate receiver substrate. This has generated increasing interest over the last decade due its unique capability of integrating diverse heterogeneous materials into various structures and layouts. The growing number applications enabled by micro-transfer includes flexible electronics, sensors, photovoltaics, micro-LED displays. work presents approach, which relies on thermally induced adhesion modulation shape memory polymer materials. An individually addressable micro-fabricated resistive heater array used locally deliver heat for pixel actuation. Selectively transferring chips closely packed microchip (pitch: 100 µm, size: 50 × µm2) demonstrated. head can be dynamically configured assemble micro-objects in arbitrary patterns, allowing digital manufacturing, object sorting, or in-line correction defects. These capabilities, together with simple robust structure head, enable high process scalability flexibility material integration.

Heterogeneous material integration for MEMS
This thesis describes heterogeneous integration methods for the fabrication of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). Most MEMS devices reuse the fabrication techniques that are found in the microelectronics integrated circuit industry. This limits the selection of materials and processes that are feasible for the realization of MEMS devices. Heterogeneous integration methods, on the other hand...
متن کاملTransfer printing techniques for materials assembly and micro/nanodevice fabrication.
Transfer printing represents a set of techniques for deterministic assembly of micro-and nanomaterials into spatially organized, functional arrangements with two and three-dimensional layouts. Such processes provide versatile routes not only to test structures and vehicles for scientific studies but also to high-performance, heterogeneously integrated functional systems, including those in flex...
متن کاملMicroassembly of Heterogeneous Materials using Transfer Printing and Thermal Processing
Enabling unique architectures and functionalities of microsystems for numerous applications in electronics, photonics and other areas often requires microassembly of separately prepared heterogeneous materials instead of monolithic microfabrication. However, microassembly of dissimilar materials while ensuring high structural integrity has been challenging in the context of deterministic transf...
متن کاملActive, Programmable Elastomeric Surfaces with Tunable Adhesion for Deterministic Assembly by Transfer Printing
Active, programmable control of interfacial adhesion is an important, desired feature of many existing and envisioned systems, including medical tapes, releasable joints, and stamps for transfer printing. Here a design for an elastomeric surface that offers switchable adhesion strength through a combination of peel-rate dependent effects and actuation of sub-surface fl uid chambers is presented...
متن کاملData-Driven Material Modeling with Functional Advection for 3D Printing of Materially Heterogeneous Objects
We present a data-driven approach for the creation of high-resolution, geometrically complex, and materially heterogeneous 3D printed objects at product scale. Titled Data-driven Material Modeling (DdMM), this approach utilizes external and user-generated data sets for the evaluation of heterogeneous material distributions during slice generation, thereby enabling the production of voxel-matric...
