چکیده

The last two decades have witnessed a tremendous increase in cell biology data. Not least is this true for studies of the dynamic organization microfilament and microtubule systems animal cells where analyses molecular components their interaction patterns deepened our understanding these complex force-generating machineries. Previous observations cross-talk between now led to realization existence several intricate mechanisms operating maintain coordinated cellular organization. In short review, we relate development by discussing new results concerning function actin regulator profilin 1 as control component microfilament-microtubule cross-talk.

Fibroblast contractility and actin organization are stimulated by microtubule inhibitors.

Despite considerable evidence that cytoplasmic microtubules play some role in guiding or controlling the locomotion of tissue cells, the nature of this control is not understood. In particular, little is known about the role of microtubules in the exertion of propulsive 'traction' forces, or about microtubule effects on the organization of the cytoplasmic actin stress fibers. In this study, the...

Characterization of Cep135, a novel coiled-coil centrosomal protein involved in microtubule organization in mammalian cells

By using monoclonal antibodies raised against isolated clam centrosomes, we have identified a novel 135-kD centrosomal protein (Cep135), present in a wide range of organisms. Cep135 is located at the centrosome throughout the cell cycle, and localization is independent of the microtubule network. It distributes throughout the centrosomal area in association with the electron-dense material surr...

Calmodulin-microtubule association in cultured mammalian cells

A Triton X-100-lysed cell system has been used to identify calmodulin on the cytoskeleton of 3T3 and transformed SV3T3 cells. By indirect immunofluorescence, calmodulin was found to be associated with both the cytoplasmic microtubule complex and the centrosomes. A number of cytoplasmic microtubules more resistant to disassembly upon either cold (0-4 degrees C) or hypotonic treatment, as well as...

Non-centrosomal Microtubule Organization in Differentiated Cells

The centrosome consists of a pair of centrioles surrounded by pericentriolar material. During the formation of the mitotic spindle, multi-protein complexes in the pericentriolar material are involved in the nucleation and anchorage of microtubules. In postmitotic cells of many tissues, proteins of the pericentriolar material lose their association with the centrosome and redistribute to various...
