چکیده
ABSTRACT Irregularity or shortage of rainfall in semi-arid regions forces farmers to use low-quality water irrigate crops. The present study aimed assess the water-use efficiency and post-harvest quality ‘Sugar Baby’ mini watermelon response different electrical conductivities nutrient solution [2.5 (control), 3.5, 4.5, 5.5 6.5 dS m-1], a floating hydroponic system. experimental design was completely randomized, with four replicates. consumption, production were evaluated, as well qualitative physico-chemical variables fruits. total consumption plants during crop cycle varied between 43 (6.5 m-1) 54 (2.5 L plant-1 among treatments, 0.031 kg L-1. greatest reductions due salinity observed for rind thickness fruit mass (8.80 5.69 %, respectively, per unit increase m-1). did not influence soluble solids content maturity index, but it had negative effect on pH titratable acidity.

Maize response to water, salinity and nitrogen levels: yield-water relation, water-use efficiency and water uptake reduction function
Water, salinity and nitrogen are the major factors affecting maize production in arid and semi-arid areas. The objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of different water, salinity and nitrogen levels on yield-water relationships, water use, water productivity (WP), water use efficiency (WUE) and water uptake reduction function by maize hybrid SC-704 in a semi-arid area and ...
متن کاملUse of post-harvest sugarcane residue for ethanol production.
Agricultural residues are produced in large quantities throughout the world. Approximately, 1kg of residue is produced for each kilogram of grains harvested. This ratio of grain/residue translates into an excess of 40 billion ton of crop residue produced each year in the USA. These residues are renewable resources that could be used to produce ethanol and many other value added products. In thi...
متن کاملWATER USE EFFICIENCY Deficit irrigation in grapevine improves water-use efficiency while controlling vigour and production quality
Grapevine irrigation is becoming an important practice to guarantee wine quality or even plant survival in regions affected by seasonal drought. Nevertheless, irrigation has to be controlled to optimise source to sink balance and avoid excessive vigour. The results we present here in two grapevine varieties (Moscatel and Castelão) during 3 years, indicate that we can decrease the amount of wate...

effect of different irrigation regimes and nitrogen fertilizer on percentage of grain fatty acids, yield, water and nitrogen use efficiency of pumpkin was studies as split plot based on complete randomized block design with three replications in growing season of 2013. irrigation treatments (320, 420, 600 and 900 mm ha-1) were se as main plots and nitrogen fertilizer (0, 130, 260, 390 and 520 k...
متن کاملvalidation of aquacrop model for simulation of winter wheat yield and water use efficiency under simultaneous salinity and water stress
introduction: fao aquacrop model (raes et al., 2009a; steduto et al., 2009) is a user-friendly and practitioner oriented type of model, because it maintains an optimal balance between accuracy, robustness, and simplicity; and it requires a relatively small number of model input parameters. the fao aquacrop model predicts crop productivity, water requirement, and water use efficiency under water...
