Process Intensification of Thermoplastic Lignocellulose Production through High-Solids Reactive Extrusion Enabled by a Novel Recycle Loop
نویسندگان
چکیده
To reduce the reactant concentration necessary for producing a newly synthesized thermoplastic lignocellulose from forestry waste, this study explores concept of recycle stream as chemical unit operation in reactive extrusion process. Modified first pass was returned to start process act lubricant feedstock. By action, high content could be extruded without requiring costly lubrication alternatives such plasticizing additives, solvents, or excessive quantities liquid reactants. With 25% recycled material, significantly improved processing state found, allowing reduction total usage by 50% change degree modification and ultimately leaving less unreacted species final product. The nature modified characterized thermal rheological analysis found demonstrate greater flowability with any fraction.

Yield-determining factors in high-solids enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocellulose
BACKGROUND Working at high solids (substrate) concentrations is advantageous in enzymatic conversion of lignocellulosic biomass as it increases product concentrations and plant productivity while lowering energy and water input. However, for a number of lignocellulosic substrates it has been shown that at increasing substrate concentration, the corresponding yield decreases in a fashion which c...
متن کاملThermoplastic Extrusion in Food Processing
Extrusion cooking was first introduced in food and feed processing in the late 1950s. Since then, the systems involved have grown in popularity, efficiency and flexibility. Extrusion cooking technology is most used for cereal and protein processing in the food industry and is closely related to the pet food and feed sectors. In the last decade, the development of extruders has evolved to yield ...
متن کاملPhysical and/or Chemical Modifications of Starch by Thermoplastic Extrusion
Starch makes up the nutritive reserves of many plants. Starch biosynthesis is a complex process, which may be summarized as during the growing season, the green leaves collect energy from the sun, this energy is transported as a sugar solution to the starch storage cells, and the sugar is converted into starch in the form of tiny granules occupying most of the cell interior. The conversion of s...
متن کاملProcess Intensification of Nicotinic Acid Production via Enzymatic Conversion using Reactive Extraction
Nicotinic acid is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical and biochemical industries. Compared to chemical methods, enzymatic conversion of 3-cyanopyridine is an advantageous alternative for the production of nicotinic acid and nicotinamide. The separation of the product is complicated, owing to its high dilution rate in fermentation broth and high cost. Reactive liquid-liquid extraction by a s...
