Probability Distribution Function of the Coarse-grained Scalar Field at Finite Temperature
We present a formalism to calculate the probability distribution function of a scalar field coarse-grained over some spatial scales with a Gaussian filter at finite temperature. As an application, we investigate the role of subcritical fluctuations in the electroweak phase transition in the minimal standard model. It is concluded that the universe was in a mixed state of true and false vacua al...
متن کاملCoarse-Grained Back Reaction in Single Scalar Field Driven Inflation
We introduce a self-consistent stochastic coarse-graining method, which includes both metric and scalar field fluctuations, to investigate the back reaction of long wavelength perturbations in single-scalar driven inflation, up to the second (one loop) order. We demonstrate that, although back reaction cannot be significant during the last 70 e-foldings of inflation with a smooth potential, the...
متن کاملScalar Field Theory at Finite Temperature in D=2+1
We discuss the ϕ 6 theory defined in D = 2 + 1-dimensional space-time and assume that the system is in equilibrium with a thermal bath at temperature β −1. We use the 1/N expansion and the method of the composite operator (CJT) for summing a large set of Feynman graphs. We demonstrate explicitly the Coleman-Mermin-Wagner theorem at finite temperature.
متن کاملGap equation in scalar field theory at finite temperature
We investigate the two-loop gap equation for the thermal mass of hot massless gφ theory and find that the gap equation itself has an imaginary part which along with the finite terms contains divergent pieces too. This indicates that it is not possible to find the real finite thermal mass as a solution of the gap equation beyond g order of perturbation theory. PACS: 11.10.Wx Electronic address: ...
متن کاملScalar quarkonia at finite temperature
Masses and decay constants of the scalar quarkonia, Q0ðQ 1⁄4 b; cÞ with quantum numbers IGðJPCÞ 1⁄4 0þð0þþÞ, are calculated in the framework of the QCD sum rules approach both in vacuum and finite temperature. The masses and decay constants remain unchanged up to T ’ 100 MeV but they start to diminish with increasing the temperature after this point. Near the critical or deconfinement temperatu...
