Primaquine-chitosan Nanoparticle Improves Drug Delivery to Liver Tissue in Rats

Introduction: Primaquine is one of the essential medicines used to treat malaria due Plasmodium vivax. acts by eradicating hypnozoites in liver, and its effect dependent on drug concentrations target tissue. The present study aimed prepare primaquine nanoparticle formulation using chitosan as carriers improve on-target delivery liver. Methods: Primaquine-loaded nanoparticles were prepared ionic gelation method variations. Then, resulting primaquine-chitosan administered rats compared with conventional primaquine. Afterward, plasma liver quantified. Results: obtained at 47.9 nm. area under curve for resulted lower (AUC) Cmax, 0.46 0.42 times primaquine, respectively. However, no differences found time reach Cmax (Tmax). nanoprimaquine 3 higher than concentration. Conclusion: Enhanced rat tissue may enhance ant effects, reduce unwanted side effects circulation.
