One of Professor Prebble's many achievements is that he a fellow the Law and Economics Association New Zealand. This achievement recognises his contribution to economic analysis law. The first field which scholars applied law was competition article examines particularly contentious area Zealand's law; viz Efficient Component Pricing Rule s 36 Commerce Act 1986. rule arose in Clear Communications Ltd's dispute with Telecom Corp Zealand Ltd. Privy Council endorsed charging on basis – saying its use did not breach 36. Many years later Court Appeal held Telecom's it amounted context price squeeze litigation. how concluded this. It looks at economics squeezes rationale behind Rule. discusses United States shows hostile finding liability for squeezes. outlines cases analyses reasoning case. concludes holding has eliminated equally efficient competitor standard test monopolisation interred also argues proscribing worthwhile.
