PREVENTIVE ZINC SUPPLEMENTATION EFFECT ON REDOX STATUS IN RAT MODEL OF MAFLD

Background. Oxidative stress plays an important role in the pathogenesis of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). Antioxidant trace elements as cofactors antioxidant enzymes and metalloproteins are involved this process. Zinc being may have a positive effect on treatment pathology. The study aimed to assess preventive zinc supplementation MAFLD rats.
 Materials Methods. A total 26 three-month-old female Wistar rats were used present study. activity superoxide dismutase catalase, some redox status markers, such ceruloplasmin, oxidized tryptophan, dithyrosines, thiols, carbonyls, TBARS, uric acid evaluated. biomarkers studied spectrophotometrically.
 Results. was accompanied by hyperuricemia decrease serum dityrosines. addition Zn diet prevented development steatosis, decreased level tryptophan liver, paradoxically caused model used. had prevention MAFLD, little animals but paradoxical hyperuricemia. Future studies needed establish mechanisms at cellular level.
