Prevalent Practices in Male Anterior Urethral Stricture Management: A Survey

Objective: This article aimed to study the prevalent practices in treatment and follow-up of urethral strictures. Moreover, investigate present opinion among urologists as for stricture disease are mostly dependent on treating surgeon’s expertise preference absence widely followed standard guidelines. Methods: A questionnaire was formulated based responses from experts. From October December 2020, all members urological society India received a mailed web-based survey platform. Practicing across country its members. Results: total 2554 were contacted by mail, 282 (11%) provided response. The majority doing 5 15 urethroplasties year. newly diagnosed short segment bulbar would be candidate visualized internal urethrotomy (VIU), according 69.5% urologists. Recurrence after one attempt at VIU prompted 80% switch urethroplasty next choice. During preoperative evaluation, 100% respondents wanted retrograde urethrogram, 74% deemed micturating cystourethrogram necessary, 60% urethroscopy. At discharge, preferred silicone Foley catheters, size 16F (54%). patients discharged with both suprapubic catheter situ most follow-up, 60.99% uroflowmetry, duration varied.
