Prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in burn patients: an observational study

Background: Burns are one of the most common and devastating forms trauma in life. Patients with serious thermal injury require immediate specialized care order to minimize morbidity mortality. Thermal creates a breach surface skin. It is difficult evaluate effects burn on serum levels vitamin D metabolites because binding proteins for 25-hydroxyvitamin (25(OH)D), main circulating form vitamin, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin (1,25(OH)2D) low.Methods: This study cross-sectional study. was carried out ward Government medical college Jammu during June November 2020. 52 patients both sexes all age groups were enrolled this study.Results: Fifty-two evaluated including 36 males 16 females. In second degree superficial burns mean level 25(OH)D 13.60 ng/ml (SD=7.27) ,in deep 13.88 (SD=7.03) third 14.71 (SD=7.08).Conclusions: Based results study, we can conclude that low after acute burns, these should be given supplementation.
