Prevalence of Idiopathic Peptic Ulcer in Southeastern Iran

Background: The idiopathic peptic ulcers (IPU), or non-Helicobacter pylori nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)-associated ulcers, are a serious therapeutic challenge. prevalence of IPU is increasing in some parts the world. Objectives: This study aimed to determine southeastern Iran. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, total 367 patients with active ulcer were diagnosed by endoscopy between Jan 2018 and Feb 2019. assessed for history medication use (including NSAIDs) past month, smoking, alcohol, as well complete health problems related underlying disease such cardiopulmonary, hepatic, renal problems, chronic pancreatitis. Biopsy samples from antrum performed rapid urease test (RUT), if RUT was negative, then biopsies sent histopathology. If both pathologic findings negative H. pylori, who had treatment eradication, anti-H. IgG antibody blood assessed. Patients considered infected any diagnostic tests positive result. Results: According results, 336 (91.3%) cases at least one two main etiologic factors (H. ulcer. While 323 (87.7%) pylori-positive, 45 (12.3%) pylori-negative. However, out pylori-negative cases, 13 using NSAIDs, 32 (8.69%) IPU. Conclusions: Our showed that infection NSAIDs remain cause relatively high Zahedan.
