چکیده
Background: Hyperthyroidism causes a rise in cardiovascular disease and dysrhythmias, leading to increased mortality. Low serum thyrotropin levels are known independent risk factor for atrial fibrillation (AF). The frequency of hyperthyroidism patients with AF is still unknown. Objectives: To determine the prevalence admitted tertiary care hospital Peshawar. Methodology: This was cross sectional observational study that included 155 AF. conducted cardiology department Peshawar, Pakistan, from December 2019 May 2020. Results: found 13(8.39%) fibrillation, while 142(91.61%) were without hyperthyroidism. There 94 (60.65%) males 61(39.35%) females. ratio male female 1.6: 1. mean age enrolled 50.35 years+14.95SD, range 18-75 years. Patients divided into three groups, common 41-60 (years) group. Conclusion: recognized cause fibrillation. Every new-onset should be investigated TSH levels. It can result cerebral embolic episodes, particularly elderly people other factors. Atrial Fibrillation and Hyperthyroidism*
Atrial fibrillation occurs in 10 - 15% of patients with hyperthyroidism. Low serum thyrotropin concentration is an independent risk factor for atrial fibrillation. Thyroid hormone contributes to arrythmogenic activity by altering the electrophysiological characteristics of atrial myocytes by shortening the action potential duration, enhancing automaticity and triggered activity in the pulmonary...
متن کاملThe mechanisms of atrial fibrillation in hyperthyroidism
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a complex condition with several possible contributing factors. The rapid and irregular heartbeat produced by AF increases the risk of blood clot formation inside the heart. These clots may eventually become dislodged, causing embolism, stroke and other disorders. AF occurs in up to 15% of patients with hyperthyroidism compared to 4% of people in the general populati...
