Prevalence of canine monocytic ehrlichiosis in dogs in and around Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, India

The present study was conducted to explore the prevalence of canine monocytic ehrlichiosis (CME) in dogs and around Meerut district for its better clinical management. A total 366 dog’s blood samples were collected from Department Veterinary Clinical Complex, SVPUAT, nearby private Clinics with history tick infestation characteristic findings CME screened on basis smear examination, followed by molecular detection polymerase chain reaction during period January 2022 June 2022. examination Giemsa stain detected morulae E. canis it showed as intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies varying sizes shapes monocytes. Thirteen found positive resulting a 3.55%. highest affection within age group 1-3 years (38.4%), 4-5 (30.76%), then 6-7 year (23.07%) lowest infection levels (7.69%) 4 month -1 year. maximum Labrador (6.15%) Rottweiler (5.55%), Bull mastiff (4.16%), Golden retriever (3.22%), German shepherd (2.5%), Pitbull (2.40%), non-descriptive (1.40%) breed dog. Higher recorded males (4.10%) comparison females (2.92%).
