Prevalence and Determinants of Hepatitis B Virus Antigenemia among Pregnant Women Attending Antenatal Clinics in Some Hospitals in Bauchi Metropolis

Background: Hepatitis B virus infection is a significant public health problem in the world and more common among most vulnerable individuals such as pregnant women developing countries.
 Design Duration: This cross-sectional study involving attending antenatal clinics some hospitals Bauchi metropolis, from January 2021 to February 2022.
 Aim: The aim of this is, therefore, assess seroprevalence determinants hepatitis Metropolis, Nigeria.
 Materials Methods: A total 394 blood specimens were collected fingertip randomly selected women. structured questionnaire was administered interviews conducted for data collection. participants screened HBsAg status by rapid diagnostic test.
 Results: overall prevalence disease 11.7% (46 394). (39.1%) 31 35 years age group, followed 23.9% (26-30) years. majority are married (67.4%), business owners (30.4%), then civil servants (26.1%), had attended tertiary education (52.1%). highest frequency (63.0%) found at primiparous mainly (50%) started visiting 3rd trimester, with 2 children number live births (45.7%). Risk factors analysis revealed that positive (78.3%) have no history previous surgery, or transfusion (61.20%). but 52.2% co-infected HIV/AIDS.
 Conclusion: relatively low HBV (11.7%) area, it very high, especially unvaccinated those HIV.
