Prevalence and antifungal drug resistance of dermatophytes in the clinical samples from Pakistan

Abstract Dermatophytosis is a major health problem all over the world including Pakistan. This first report of detection dermatophytes and their antifungal drug resistance in Northern Western parts A total 154 samples were collected from different hospitals Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, out them 136 found positive. Tinea corporis (35%) was most predominant type infection followed by capitis (22%). The fungi identified types as Trichophyton rubrum, mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum . included violaceum, T. Microsporum ferrugineum gender wise distribution showed both males (52%) females (48%) infected with fungi. More cases belonged to rural country. Age that more prevalent children prevalence decreased increase age. positive checked against two agents: fluconazole nystatin.
