چکیده
Abstract Morphological diversity of sound-producing structures has not been well investigated among members superorder Peracarida. Presumptive stridulatory organs have reported in some amphipods and tanaidaceans, sound production by these documented two isopod species Oniscidea Sphaeromatidea. We describe three presumptive the paranthurid Paranthura cf. japonica Richardson, 1909, first case known Cymothoida. One type, consisting a scale-bearing knob on posterolateral corner pereonite anterolateral succeeding pereonite, was found between pairs pereonites (1, 2 2, 3). A second type involves serrated structure sub-posterolateral region 1 with sharp margins 3 appearing to provide corresponding plectra. The third an extension bearing pair posteroventral margin 2; anterior-ventrolateral edges appear All occurred both sexes P. japonica. Our discovery novel, intertidal indicates that much remains be learned about biology even common peracarid species.

Fiddler on the Tree - A Bush-Cricket Species with Unusual Stridulatory Organs and Song
Insects of the order Orthoptera are well-known for their acoustic communication. The structures used for this purpose show a high diversity which obviously relates to differences in song parameters and to the physics of sound production. Here we describe song and morphology of the sound producing organs of a tropical bush-cricket, Ectomoptera nepicauda, from East Africa. It has a very unusual c...
متن کاملCorrection: Tinggianthura alba: A New Genus and Species of Anthuridae (Isopoda, Cymothoida, Anthuroidea) from Pulau Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia with an Updated Key to the Genera of Anthuridae
A new anthurid isopod from dead coral rubble and stones in the intertidal area of Pulau Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia, is described. It is placed in a new genus and species, Tinggianthura alba. Tinggianthura is characterized by: (1) subtriangular carpus shape of pereopods 4-7, (2) pereopod 1 propodus palm without prominent tooth or steps and (3) maxillipedal palp 2-articled.
متن کاملThe first complete mitogenome of the South China deep‐sea giant isopod Bathynomus sp. (Crustacea: Isopoda: Cirolanidae) allows insights into the early mitogenomic evolution of isopods
In this study, the complete mitochondrial (mt) genome sequence of the South China deep-sea giant isopod Bathynomus sp. was determined, and this study is the first to explore in detail the mt genome of a deep-sea member of the order Isopoda. This species belongs to the genus Bathynomus, the members of which are saprophagous residents of the deep-sea benthic environment; based on their large size...
