چکیده
This study explores mineral carbonation of industrial stainless steelmaking slags and relevant synthetic constituent minerals via in situ pressurized X-ray diffraction, to clarify reaction pathways efficiency for carbon storage waste valorization. The primary phases Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD) Continuous Casting (CC) slags, namely, åkermanite, bredigite, cuspidine, merwinite, β- γ-C2S, were reacted a custom-built beryllium-capped XRD reactor filled with either water-saturated (wet) subcritical CO2(g), or wet supercritical CO2(SC), series experiments. Formation calcite aragonite was observed most Ca-bearing minerals, transient precipitation metastable vaterite observed, while AOD CC CO2(SC) resulted hydrated crystalline calcium carbonates indirect evidence amorphous carbonate. Results obtained suggest that low-pressure routes are attractive standalone slag processes, high-pressure amiable symbiotic integration CO2(SC)-generating green technologies.

Factors Affecting Ex-Situ Aqueous Mineral Carbonation Using Calcium and Magnesium Silicate Minerals
Carbonation of magnesiumand calcium-silicate minerals to form their respective carbonates is one method to sequester carbon dioxide. Process development studies have identified reactor design as a key component affecting both the capital and operating costs of ex-situ mineral sequestration. Results from mineral carbonation studies conducted in a batch autoclave were utilized to design and const...

The structure of nanocrystalline calcium silicate hydrates (C-S-H) having Ca/Si ratios ranging between 0.57 ± 0.05 and 1.47 ± 0.04 was studied using an electron probe micro-analyser, powder X-ray diffraction, 29Si magic angle spinning NMR, and Fourier-transform infrared and synchrotron X-ray absorption spectroscopies. All samples can be described as nanocrystalline and defective tobermorite. At...

smelting of hammerable iron and its treatment in antiquity and Medieval produced also by-product: slag. Because of small yields of iron the process produced only small amounts of slag that did not attract attention of smelters concerning its possible use. the use of slag pieces was only accidental. a lot of slag pieces and blocks from slag pit shaft furnaces were used as a material for mound bu...
