چکیده
The objective of this study was to assess how different modes steroid therapy affect hearing preservation in Partial Deafness Treatment group patients. In study, the consisted 46 (24 women, 22 men; aged 18-78 years) cochlear implant patients divided into 3 subgroups. first subgroup (N = 13), underwent standard intravenous (IV) following implantation. second 16), prolonged treatment with a combination oral and IV corticosteroids. Third 17) control who received no steroids therapy. mean rate 52.1% (SD 36.7) receiving therapy, 71.4% 22.7) 22.1% 33.9) smallest variation observed 9.9 dB. comparison, change 11.7 dB for figure 18.0 A seems be optimal stabilizes thresholds preserves hearing.

Partial deafness cochlear implantation in children.
OBJECTIVE Partial deafness cochlear implantation and electric-acoustic stimulation have proven to be a useful method of treating adults with a ski-slope type hearing loss. Good hearing preservation and speech perception outcomes have been reported. This study aims to assess partial deafness cochlear implantation in children. METHOD Nine children, ranging in age from 4.2 to 12 years, received ...
متن کاملMethods of Hearing Preservation during Cochlear Implantation
Introduction Recent advances in surgical techniques and electrode design have made residual hearing preservation during cochlear implantation (CI) possible, achievable, and desirable. Objectives The objective of this study was to review the literature regarding methods used for hearing preservation during CI surgery. Data Synthesis We performed a search in the LILACS, MEDLINE, SciELO, PubMed...
متن کاملPreservation of low frequency hearing in partial deafness cochlear implantation (PDCI) using the round window surgical approach.
CONCLUSION Successful hearing preservation is possible in individuals with excellent low frequency hearing. This is possible due to the partial insertion of an atraumatic electrode using an atraumatic round window surgical technique. OBJECTIVES This paper describes the round window surgical technique used to preserve excellent low frequency hearing in patients receiving partially inserted MED...
متن کاملSubjective benefit after partial deafness cochlear implantation.
Benefits after cochlear implantation are not limited to auditory gains, but also extend to improvement in physical, psychological, and social function. Cochlear implant (CI) eligibility criteria have broadened to now include a variety of patient groups. To clearly understand the complex change experienced by patients and their families, it is necessary to use subjective questionnaires for the i...
متن کاملHearing Preservation after Cochlear Implantation: UNICAMP Outcomes
Background. Electric-acoustic stimulation (EAS) is an excellent choice for people with residual hearing in low frequencies but not high frequencies and who derive insufficient benefit from hearing aids. For EAS to be effective, subjects' residual hearing must be preserved during cochlear implant (CI) surgery. Methods. We implanted 6 subjects with a CI. We used a special surgical technique and a...
