Preparation of para-aramid aerogel fiber structurally colored by light scattering through wet spinning and supercritical drying

Abstract This research is an investigation of the preparation conditions for para-aramid aerogel fibers that are structurally colored by Rayleigh scattering, angle-independent structural color. It well known color has angle dependence colors. However, there currently a desire materials with During fibers’ spinning process, microstructures generated. The effect investigated measuring optical properties wet gel fibers. neutralization speed negatively charged PPTA fibrils significant impact on formation dense microstructure. Spinning under fast condition makes it possible to achieve blue-colored fiber derived from scattering. influence microstructure confirmed FE-SEM characterization. Furthermore, using narrow inner diameter needle decreases whiteness component Mie scattering fibers, resulting in more vivid blue hold great promise application clothing, interiors, and industrial materials.
