Preparation of Magnetorheological Fluid Using Stabilizing Additives

In this study, we examined three kinds of stabilizing additives to prepare stable MRF with good fluidity. We selected additives; a styrene isoprene block copolymer, hydrophobic fumed silica, and an organogelator (CMOL SB03; PMDA-2C 8 /oleyl). measured the rheological properties both for dissolutions in base oil MRFs prepared by using rheometer; MCR302 (Anton Paar Corp.). From experimental results, viscosity copolymer dissolution increased concentration showing non-Newtonian properties. suitable as 5wt% satisfied fluidity without forming gel. Since viscosities 7wt% silica 1wt% CMOL SB 03 consequently showed similar such conditions were prepared. results stability test, addition was effective satisfy MRF. also found that increase magnetic property MRFs.
