Preparation of cotton fibers modified with aromatic heterocyclic compounds and study of Cr(VI) adsorption performance

In order to prepare low-cost, biodegradable and processable adsorbent materials for adsorption of heavy metal ion, two kinds novel modified cottons (C-4-APD C-2-APZ) were obtained by introducing 4-aminopyridin 2-aminopyrazine into the surface degreasing cotton, respectively, used removal Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solution. The characterized Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), which confirmed amino groups, pyridine groups pyrazine grafted onto cottons. maximum capacities C-4-APD C-2-APZ 89.66 mg/g 54.92 mg/g, at optimum pH 2 an initial concentration 300 mg/g. Kinetic, isotherm thermodynamic studies carried out investigate behavior on ions. results showed that followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic model, equilibrium data in good agreement with Langmuir analysis indicates proceeds spontaneously. recovery reuse cotton achieved washing wt% thiourea-hydrochloric acid solution (0.5 mol/L HCl), maintained above 90% 85%, after six cycles.
