چکیده
Purpose: The aim of this study was to prepare and characterize poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) composite bone cement filled with montmorillonite (MMT) loaded silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Materials methods: AgNPs were synthesized by the chemical reducing method. Characterization done using Field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) Thermogravimetric (TGA). Two four weight percentages MMT powder prepared MMT/AgNPs added cement.A total 75 PMMA specimens divided into 5 groups (control group, PMMT/MMT 2%, 4%, PMMT/MMTAgNps 2% 4%). Then they tested regarding compressive strength, flexural strength antibacterial activity. Results: SEM images showed layered light spots indicating presence that confirmed XRD; while TGA its thermal stability. Compressive results revealed statistically insignificant difference between control 4% PMMA/MMT significant higher values than 2%. Statisticallyinsignificant in found concentrations within PMMA/MMT/AgNPs group. Antibacterial statistical differences all (p < 0.001). Conclusion: could be used as a controlled delivery system hold proved have effect when cement. Addition improved strength.

Composites of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) of varied functionality (unfunctionalised and carboxyl and amine functionalised) with polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) were prepared for use as a bone cement. The MWCNT loadings ranged from 0.1 to 1.0 wt.%. The fatigue properties of these MWCNT-PMMA bone cements were characterised at MWCNT loading levels of 0.1 and 0.25 wt.% with the type and wt...
