Preparation and Characterization of Dental Pit and Fissure Sealant Based on Calcium Sodium Silicate Bioactive Glasses

Abstract This study aimed to prepare a resin based dental sealant loaded with novel bioactive glass formulated from (50 wt% calcium silicate and 50 sodium silicate) different percentages of fluorapatite. Four batches were then characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy analysis, X-ray powder diffraction analysis Transmission electron microscopy. Density, microhardness bioactivity testing after insertion in artificial saliva done. bisphenol A-glycidyl methacrylate (Bis-GMA) sealants the batch that showed preeminent properties silica fillers prepared. The prepared compared commercial regarding flow, curing depth, compressive strength microhardness. Sealant composition comparable was selected for pH changes ion release immersion time intervals. Results indicated amorphous nature, behavior apatite forming ability tested batches. Experimental revealed lower at P < 0.001. mean values ranged 6.75 6.35 extended phosphorus up 90 days. It concluded 85 15 fluorapatite had best trend ability. 65 glass, 10 sintered nanosilica acceptable mechanical properties. pit fissure is promising releasing material.
