Preparation and adsorption properties of magnetic graphene oxide composites for the removal of methylene blue from water

Abstract Using graphite powder, chitosan, and diatomite as raw materials, graphene oxide was first prepared by Hummer’s method GO carboxylated modified into hydroxylated (GOH). It then GOH via carboxylation, (DE) the magnetic chitosan (MCS) were supported on blending to generate composite GOH/DMCS. This novel studied determine its methylene blue wastewater adsorption capability. Results showed that at 45 °C, a dosage of adsorbent 1 g L ?1 , pH 12, dye GOH/DMCS reached equilibrium after 120 min, maximum amount 205.34 mg·g . The cycled eight times test reusability, efficiency remained greater than 86%. process fit well pseudo second-order kinetic model.
