Pre‐emergence herbicides, not carrier volume, impacted weed management in conventional tillage systems

چکیده
The use of pre-emergence (PRE) herbicides is resurging as a standard practice for weed management in corn (Zea mays L.) and soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] the U.S. north-central region. increased PRE warrants investigation on impact spray carrier volume control. Field experiments were established at Arlington, WI, 2018 2019 Janesville, to evaluate influence control conventional tilled soybean. Each experiment included three herbicide premixes applied crop planting five volumes (2.5, 5, 10, 15, 17.5 gal acre−1). A nontreated was also experiment. Carrier did not but selection did. In corn, acetochlor + clopyralid mesotrione bicyclopyrone S-metolachlor provided 10–13% better annual grass, common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.), giant (A. trifida than fluthiacet-methyl pyroxasulfone. soybean, dimethenamid-P saflufenacil resulted similar flumioxazin pyroxasulfone treatment (79–85%), 6 14% higher grass biomass reduction, respectively, compared metribuzin chlorimuron-ethyl Arlington. At due high density all treatments low levels (48–56%). Results from these field suggest that lower could be used applications without compromising tillage systems.

Conservation Tillage and Weed Management
Tillage has long been an essential component of traditional agricultural systems. Broadly defined, tillage is the mechanical manipulation of the soil and plant residues to prepare a seedbed for crop planting. The benefits of tillage are many: it loosens soil, enhances the release of nutrients from the soil for crop growth, kills weeds, and regulates the circulation of water and air within the s...

Soybean field experiments were performed to investigate the weed-suppressing effects of different tillage systems and cover crop mulches at two locations in southwest Germany during 2014 and 2015. The influence of three different tillage systems on weed control efficacy, soybean plant density, and crop yield was determined. In the no-till system (NT), two different cover crops, (rye and barley)...

Weed infestation of durum wheat was determined in the systems of conventional tillage(CT), reduced tillage (RT) and herbicide tillage (HT). Cultivations measures performed after theharvest of the previous crop included shallow ploughing (at a depth of 10-12 cm) and pre-winterploughing (25-30 cm) in the CT system; only field cultivation (10-15 cm) in the RT system; andspraying with glyphosate (R...

tion and fertilization rates create a favorable environment for weed growth in addition to crop growth. Weeds can quickly out-compete the crop for light and other resources, reducing the rate and amount of crop growth as well as salability (Berchielli-Robertson et al., 1990; Norcini and Stamps, 1992). Weed management in nursery production is most effectively achieved by preventative practices, ...
