Prediction of potato sprouting during storage

چکیده
Potato sprouting during storage occurs after a break in dormancy, leading to decrease quality and consequently economic losses. We used 3379 records from multi-year multi-environment trials of 537 potato varieties identify the main factors driving dormancy develop predictive models for an efficient forecast. The variety explained majority variability (60.3%), followed by year (13.9%) location (5.4%). About 250 predictors were considered model dormancy. selected had validation precision 14.59 days; it class sum daily maximum temperatures air period planting harvest as predictors. predictions supported results vivo trial using measurements grown under different temperature regimes greenhouse conditions. With growing impact climate change on crop production, developed here can provide cost-effective tool optimize control storage.

Determination of mechanical properties of potato flesh during storage
The mechanical properties of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) in various treatments including: three different varieties (Agria, Satina and Caesar), ten levels of storage time (22 weeks), and three levels of loading direction were presented in this study by conducting 270 uniaxial compression tests. The tests were performed on potato flesh in real conditions of storage. The measurements were done ...
متن کاملAssuring Potato Tuber Quality during Storage: A Future Perspective
Potatoes represent an important staple food crop across the planet. Yet, to maintain tuber quality and extend availability, there is a necessity to store tubers for long periods often using industrial-scale facilities. In this context, preserving potato quality is pivotal for the seed, fresh and processing sectors. The industry has always innovated and invested in improved post-harvest storage....
متن کاملCarotenogenesis during tuber development and storage in potato.
Germplasm of Solanum tuberosum and Solanum phureja exhibit a wide (over 20-fold) variation in tuber carotenoid content. The levels of carotenoids during tuber development and storage were compared in a high carotenoid-accumulating S. phureja accession (DB375\1) with two S. tuberosum cultivars (Pentland Javelin and Desiree) that accumulate lower levels of tuber carotenoid. On a dry weight basis,...
