Predicting the Magnetic Fields of a Stealth CME Detected by Parker Solar Probe at 0.5 au

Stealth coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are eruptions from the Sun that not associated with appreciable low-coronal signatures. Because they often cannot be linked to a well-defined source region on Sun, analysis of their initial magnetic configuration and eruption dynamics is particularly problematic. In this article, we address issue by undertaking first attempt at predicting fields stealth CME erupted in 2020 June Earth-facing Sun. We estimate its aid off-limb observations secondary viewpoint photospheric field extrapolations. then employ Open Solar Physics Rapid Ensemble Information modeling suite evaluate early evolution forward model up Parker Probe, which detected situ heliocentric distance 0.5 au. compare our hindcast prediction measurements set flux-rope reconstructions, obtaining encouraging agreement arrival time, spacecraft-crossing location, profiles. This work represents step toward reliable understanding forecasting CMEs slow streamer-blowout events.
