Predicting the degree of dissociation of ionic liquids in binary mixtures with PDH+UNIQUAC

The interest in ionic liquids (ILs) as replacements for more hazardous solvents has been growing over the last years, especially industrial synthesis and liquid-liquid separations. Consequently, it is important to study their degree of dissociation (α), which quantifies ratio IL molecules dissociated into ions significantly influences viscosity, density, surface tension. In this work, ILs binary mixtures was predicted based on equilibria (LLE) data. To do so, UNIversal QUAsi-Chemical (UNIQUAC) model, describes short-range interactions, combined with Pitzer-Debye-Hückel (PDH) equation, accounts long-range interactions. total, 31 systems comprising 15 different 4 (water, ethanol, 1-propanol 1-butanol) were studied. function systems' composition determined by thermodynamic modelling results presented a low deviation from experimental data available literature, validating novel approach.
