Predicting Sexual Desire in Daily Life from an Attachment Perspective: An Experience Sampling study

In the present study we investigated temporal associations between emotional intimacy, daily hassles, and sexual desire of individuals in long-term relationships, examined direct moderating effects attachment orientation. We these variables by reanalyzing an existing data set. Experience sampling methodology was used to collect 10 times per day, across seven days. Attachment orientation assessed with Experiences Close Relationships questionnaire. Age, gender, relationship duration were added as predictors. Data 134 participants (Nfemale = 87) analyzed. Only one partners a couple participated. Men overall reported higher than women. Longer associated lower desire, but age not desire. Increased level intimacy predicted measurements average time interval 90 min, this effect no longer significant when assessment points 180 min apart. Daily hassles did predict at subsequent assessments. Avoidant anxious level. No interaction stress, on found. Speculative explanations are offered for absence stress effects.
