Predicting risk and prognosis of preeclampsia by evaluating platelet indices

Background: Preeclampsia is an obstetric disorder affecting 2-8% pregnancies globally and 8-10% in India. The study was conducted to evaluate platelet count, mean volume distribution width as potential predictor of preeclampsia. It also aimed see if these indices have a prognostic significance determining the preeclampsia severity.Methods: A prospective on 120 pregnant women at 20 24 weeks gestation with singleton pregnancy. At monthly intervals CBC (complete blood count) done from till delivery 7 days after delivery. Data increasing were collected, analysed expressed mean, standard deviations correlation coefficients.Results: We observed significant decrease PC increase MPV PDW patients compared normotensive patients. that it more severe than non-severe r value for normotensive, -0.58, -0.59 -0.94 respectively. 0.89, 0.97 0.98 0.98, 0.99 respectively.Conclusions: Patients are likely changes PC, PDW, which can be early Thus, estimation considered early, simple cost-effective procedure estimating severity
