Predicting Pediatric ACL Graft Size

چکیده

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the predictive value MRI in determining hamstring autograft size preoperatively for pediatric ACL reconstructions. Children and adolescents from 10-20 years old that had undergone reconstruction using were identified 2017-2018. Semitendinosus gracilis cross-sectional area diameter measured on preoperative knee MRIs field interest (FOI) distance measurement tools. slice used as largest section by measuring surgeon. Two surgeons independently all MRIs. Preoperative demographic data (height, weight, body mass index (BMI), gender) operative (graft size) collected. Data analyzed an independent statistician. Ordinal regression analysis performed determine relationship between graft size. A Classification Regression Tree (CART) constructed identify predictors pre-determined sizes 8 mm. Receiver operating characteristics (ROC) then created assess performance model sensitivity specificity. All analyses SPSS v. 24 with alpha set at p<0.05 declare significance. One hundred ten children (54 boys, 56 girls) included average age 15.93 (range 11.81-20.22) BMI 25.98 16.02-40.08). CART determined if sum areas semitendinosus tendons greater than 31.17 mm 87.5% or greater. ROC have 80% 74% specificity predicting a larger. summation predicts intraoperative larger children.

ACL Revision in Synthetic ACL graft failure

The development of synthetic grafts as an alternative to biological grafts for reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament dates from 1980. The interest is awakened due to the potential advantages of: The absence of morbidity associated with donor site, and early return to sport . However, this surgical technique has had multiple complications associated with graft: mechanical failures (sy...

ACL Reconstruction: Choosing the Graft.

Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament is one of the most common ligament injuries in sports traumatology. The need for surgical anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is justified by its anatomical characteristics. Key considerations when choosing a graft include the potential for bone integration and the risk of failure. Bone sclerosis around the tunnel affects the integration of the gr...

Predicting success in ACL reconstruction.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury and ACL reconstruction is common in the United States. However, when compared to the standards of other orthopedics procedures today, ACL reconstruction is NOT predictably successful in restoring patients to their pre-injury state. Only 60-70% of reconstructed patients resume their previous level of activity and many patients experience some degree of ost...

Preoperative Ultrasonography Is Unreliable in Predicting Hamstring Tendon Graft Diameter for ACL Reconstruction

Background Hamstring autograft size <8 mm has been shown to be a predictor for failure after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. The ability to predict graft size preoperatively is helpful in counseling patients about the possible need for graft augmentation. Purpose To determine whether preoperative ultrasound (US) measurements of hamstring tendons can predict intraoperative gra...
