Abstract Watering is a very important thing at the plant nursery stage. Without proper watering, growth of seedlings will be disrupted. In process watering must pay attention to several things, such as time and water discharge. At this time, most independent smallholders do not understand how use rain gauge or what often called an ombrometer. These farmers prefer old way looking state soil in rather than using case, we know, buying ombrometer quite expensive. An which also referred gauge. This tool installed open place without protection shade so that rainwater caught directly by tool. The unit used millimeters with accuracy reading up 0.1 mm. Currently, practical gauges are self-made factory machines still validated. purpose research results simple (C) precision tests compared Observatory Ombrometers, Ordinary Automatic Weather Stations (AWS). location test was oil palm area Research Experimental Garden Yogyakarta Community Plantation Academy. Rainfall data were obtained from Nine Practical Rain Gauges (C), Observatory-type Ombrometers (A), (B), Station Statistical methods precision. C AWS have value 95.9% 88.7%. Comparison A shows 99.6% 98.3%. testing against B show 99.5% 97.5%.
