Potentially toxic element accumulation in two Equisetum species spontaneously grown in the flotation tailings

چکیده
Decades of mining activity have resulted in the accumulation significant amounts tailings that are deposited over natural vegetation, forming deposits tens meters thick. The poor organic matter and macronutrients contain a high concentration potentially toxic elements (PTE). Their surface remains unvegetated for long periods time is susceptible to fluvial wind erosion. Equisetum arvense E. telmateia appear be first colonizers Pb-Cu-Zn mine Serbia. Each plant was sampled along with its associated substrate. Pseudototal available metals substrate, as well total As, Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb Zn concentrations parts were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. findings show both species bioaccumulation capacity tolerance otherwise due efficient accumulation, immobilization, detoxification these their underground parts. It expected long-term presence metal-tolerant horsetail would increase content flotation residues, thus gradually improving physical, chemical, biological properties. This, turn, promote succession other soil microorganisms.

Growth and metal accumulation in vetiver and two Sesbania species on lead/zinc mine tailings.
The lead (Pb)/zinc (Zn) tailings contained high concentrations of heavy metals (total Pb, Zn, Cu and Cd concentrations 4164, 4377, 35 and 32 mg kg(-1), respectively), and low contents of major nutrient elements (N, P, and K) and organic matter. A field trial was conducted to compare growth performance, metal accumulation of Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) and two legume species (Sesbania rostra...

Mineral forms in rhizosphere and bulk substrate were examined for selected plant species (Cardaminopsis arenosa, Calamagrostis epigeios, Deschampsia caespitosa, Festuca ovina, Silene vulgaris, Viola tricolor) growing spontaneously in the close vicinity of a tailings pond and in a zone of eolian transmission of waste particles. Samples of substrates and plant roots were taken from sites in the B...
متن کاملThe accumulation of potentially-toxic metals by grazing ruminants.
The main factors affecting the accumulation of potentially-toxic metals (PTM) by grazing animals are the presence of the metal, its concentration in herbage and at the soil surface, and the duration of exposure to the contaminated pasture and soil. In addition, the elapsed time between the contamination of the pasture and grazing, the quantity of soil ingested together with herbage, the mechani...
