چکیده
Human health risks associated with the consumption of three shellfish (<i>Penaeus monodon, Crassostrea rhizophorae</i>, and <i>Tympanostomus fuscatus</i>) harvested from Buguma, Krakrama, Bonny Rivers in Niger Delta region were evaluated this study. The bioaccumulation potential toxic elements (PTEs) [Arsenic (As), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Lead (Pb), Nickel (Ni)] was analyzed using atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS). pollution index (PPI), estimated daily intake (EDI), target hazard quotient (THQ), total (HI), cancer risk (CR), (TCR) for human risks. levels PTEs samples followed order: Ni > Cr Pb Cd As above standard recommended limits except inorganic observed <i>T. fuscatus</i> <i>P. monodon</i> Krakrama <i>C. rhizophorae</i> river. EDI values iAs, Cr, lower than tolerable (TDI), however, children (4.6E-03 mg kg-1day-1), (1.7E-03 kg--1day-1) C. rhizophorae (1.4E-03 kg-1day-1) Buguma higher TDI value (8.00E-04 kg-1day-1). HI 1. all species rivers adults ranged 8.69E-04 to 2.47E-03 1.86E-03 5.30E-03 respectively these priority level (1E-04), hence, need monitor study area.

Toxic Elements in Commercial Infant Food, Estimated Dietary Intake, and Risk Assessment in Poland
This paper presents results of heavy metals determination in infant foods available in Poland during a monitoring programme in 2009-13. This study investigated levels of lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury in infant formulae and other infant foods intended for consumption during the first 6 to 12 months of life, and an intake of heavy metals was assessed. Food consumption data based on the arti...
متن کاملPolycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons In Edible Mushrooms from Niger Delta, Nigeria: Carcinogenic and Non-Carcinogenic Health Risk Assessment
In the oil-rich Niger Delta, hydrocarbon pollution and oil spillages, gas flaring and sundry anthropogenic activities constitute sources of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), with food contamination playing a major role in human exposure. In this study we assessed PAH levels in wild and cultivated edible mushroom species consumed by the general population from the oil producing Niger Delt...

The Manila clam Ruditapes philippinarum is one of the most important commercial bivalve species consumed in China. Evaluated metal burden in bivalve molluscs can pose potential risks to public health as a result of their frequent consumption. In this study, concentrations of 10 trace elements (Cu, Zn, Mn, Se, Ni, Cd, Cr, Pb, Hg and As) were determined in samples of the bivalve Ruditapes philipp...
متن کاملOccurrence and Distribution of Chrysene and its Derivatives in Crude Oils and Source Rock Extracts from Niger Delta, Nigeria
Crude oils and source rocks from the northern and offshore Niger Delta basin, Nigeria, have been characterized by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in terms of their origin and thermal maturity based on the distribution of chrysene and its derivatives. The crude oils and source rocks were characterized by the dominance of chrysene over benzo[a]anthracene. 3-methylchrysene predominated over o...

Crude oils and source rocks from the Northern and offshore depobelts of the Niger Delta basin, Nigeria have been characterized based on the distribution of pyrene and its derivatives by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Moreover, the crude oils have been characterized by the dominance of pyrene over fluoranthene while fluoranthene generally predominated over pyrene in the rock samples. Also...
