چکیده
Abstract Background Diaspis echinocacti (Bouché) is a major pest of cactus pear species worldwide. Over the past three years, this scale insect has seen increasing interest regarding its spread and importance, as well efficacy primary parasitoids Aphytis debachi Azim, Plagiomerus diaspidis Crawford, biocontrol agents. Infestation plants by D. parasitism rates two were evaluated in fields Zemamra-Morocco, for years (2020–2022). Infested cladodes collected incubated laboratory (27 ± 1 °C) study. Results cochineal increased continuously during study period to reach 66% 2022. Parasitism lowest 2020 thereafter 74.10 38.38% 2022 P. , A. respectively. The most abundant parasitoid was . functional response mutual interference attacking second instar nymphs studied laboratory. Logistic regression both tested had negative linear parameter indicating type II response. Attack 0.73 0.60 handling times 0.09 0.06 h respectively, estimated using Holling's disk equation. Search efficiency decreased significantly from 0.060 0.002 0.067 0.003 when density 8. Conclusions potential, reported. results investigation suggest that potential effectively control infestations on plantations.

Cardinium in Plagiomerus diaspidis (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae).
The bacterial symbiont Cardinium (Bacteroidetes) was previously implicated in the thelytokous reproduction of the parasitoid Plagiomerus diaspidis Crawford (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae). Horizontal transmission of the symbiont among the cactus scale Diaspis echinocacti Bouché (Homoptera: Diaspididae) and its hymenopteran parasitoids has been suggested. In this study, the bacteria associated with D....

The aim of this study was to quantify mucilages, pectins, hemicelluloses, and cellulose of nopalitos (edible, as vegetable, young cladodes of flat-stemmed spiny cacti) of most consumed Mexican cultivars, and sweet and acid cactus pear fruits of Opuntia spp. The hypothesis is that, regardless of their unavailable polysaccharides diversity, nopalitos and cactus pear fruits are rich sources of sol...
