Potential of Impatiens balsamina Leaf Extract against Quorum Sensing in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA01

نویسندگان

چکیده

Bacteria control gene expression by quorum sensing (QS) mechanism owing to producing small signal molecules associated with population density. Both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria use QS manage various physiological characteristics, including bioluminescence, virulence expression, biofilm formation, antibiotic resistance. Impatience balsamina is a flowering, perennial annual herb indigenous southern Asia in India. All parts of have therapeutic effect on different diseases. This study evaluated the anti-quorum activity leaf extract examining its action Violacein production Chromobacterium violaceum, biosensor strain, Biofilm, Pyocyanin, Protease, Chitinase reference strain Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA 01. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for 01was 3.125mg/ml. A 1.563mg/ml (sub-MIC) showed inhibition 100% Las protease, 78.42% chitinase, 30.75% biofilm, 93.33% pyocyanin article displayed quenching hindering quorum-sensing controlled characteristics without killing it, which reduces proneness drug resistance bacteria, globally accepted emerging problem medical field.

Piper betle leaf extract affects the quorum sensing and hence virulence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1

Quorum sensing (QS) plays an important role in virulence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, blocking of QS ability are viewed as viable antimicrobial chemotherapy and which may prove to be a safe anti-virulent drug. Bioactive components from Piper betle have been reported to possess antimicrobial ability. This study envisages on the anti-QS properties of ethanolic extract of P. betle leaf (PbLE) using ...

Social cheating in Pseudomonas aeruginosa quorum sensing.

In a process termed quorum sensing, bacteria use diffusible chemical signals to coordinate cell density-dependent gene expression. In the human pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa, quorum sensing controls hundreds of genes, many of which encode extracellular virulence factors. Quorum sensing is required for P. aeruginosa virulence in animal models. Curiously, quorum sensing-deficient variants, most...

Vfr controls quorum sensing in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa controls several genes in a cell density-dependent manner through a phenomenon termed quorum sensing. The transcriptional activator protein of the las quorum-sensing system is encoded for by the lasR gene, which is at the top of a quorum-sensing hierarchy. The activation of LasR as a transcriptional activator induces the expression of multiple genes that code for factors ...

Azithromycin inhibits quorum sensing in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

We report that 2 microg of azithromycin/ml inhibits the quorum-sensing circuitry of Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain PAO1. Addition of synthetic autoinducers partially restored the expression of the trancriptional activator-encoding genes lasR and rhlR but not that of the autoinducer synthase-encoding gene lasI. We propose that azithromycin interferes with the synthesis of autoinducers, by an unkn...
