Postoperative Complications after Surgical Management of Mandibular Angle Fracture

Introductions: Mandibular angle fractures represent a high percentage and an important clinical challenge because of their treatment pattern the highest postsurgical complication rate among all mandibular fractures. Materials methods: The objectives this cross-sectional observational study were to observe postoperative complications after surgical management fracture facilitate early detection reduction patients’ morbidity. This was carried out forty patients with who managed by open internal fixation miniplate osteosynthesis. All evaluated clinically pre- postoperatively for various parameters at 1st week, 2nd month, 4th month. Radiographs (OPG, PA skull, lateral CT scan oral maxillofacial region) taken assess complications. infection detected culture sensitivity test. Nerve injury “tactile test”, brush directional stroke test using ’00’ camel hair brush, pinprick performed sterile 27-gauge syringe needle. Occlusion chewing according Treatment Scoring System developed V. Uglesic in 1993. data analyzed SPSS version 20 statistical software. Results: In study, most (85%) male mean age 24.5 years. line third molar present 55% cases. common shows nerve 30% Infection 10% cases, malocclusion 7.5% Slight restricted mouth opening 5% Other such as malunion,, delayed union, non-union absent. Conclusion: surgery is along malocclusion.
