Posthumanism and Mimesis: An Introduction

چکیده

A different, immanent, embodied, and relational conception of mimesis is currently informing the posthuman turn. Emerging from an ERC-funded project titled Homo Mimeticus, this opening essay introduces mimetic turn in studies via three related steps: first, it differentiates aesthetic realism metaphysics sameness entails a open to differential processes becoming other; second inscribes brief genealogy re-turns history western thought; third, turns contemporary manifestations hypermimesis—from Covid-19 Russian invasion Ukraine February 2022—to test relevance Together, these steps argue for urgency rethink light all too human, environmental, challenges twenty-first century.
