Posterior tibial slope measurement among Saudi population

چکیده
To measure the posterior slope of tibia among healthy Saudi population using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). A retrospective study review 151 knee MRIs at King Khaled University Hospital, Riyadh, Arabia. All patients with no previous surgical intervention to their knees and did not suffer any bone injury around were included. Three different orthopedic physicians (two senior residents, one fellow) measured tibial (PTS) angle for all patients, average was taken readings a sagittal T2 MRI cut. Patients history joint, trauma involving distal femur or proximal tibia, osteoarthritis inflammatory arthritis, congenital deformities excluded from study. The mean age 28.15 in range 15-50 years. median mode 8.76, 8.73, 7.53, respectively. In addition, (degree) females 9.69±4.02 8.76±4.15 males. Maximum minimum calculated these respectively 19.73 0.3 degrees. Our findings are that is 8.76˚. results showed difference PTS people comparing deferent communities. association between numbers gender tested significant correlation. this study, we calculate weight height cases as independent factors. Measurement of Posterior Tibial Slope Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Background: Posterior tibial slope (PTS) is an important factor in the knee joint biomechanics and one of the bone features, which leads to knee joint stability. Posterior tibial slope affects flexion gap, knee joint stability and posterior femoral rollback that are related to wide range of knee motion. During high tibial osteotomy and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery, proper retaining the...
متن کاملTotal knee arthroplasty and posterior tibial slope
Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) has been considered as a standard procedure for intractable pain in the end-stage degenerative arthritis of the knee and maintaining range of motion (ROM) to facilitate the ability to perform daily living activities. 1 Factors that have been associated with the change in ROM after TKA include preoperative ROM, implant design, patient characteristics, posterior femo...

متن کاملAnatomical variation of posterior slope of tibial plateau in adult Eastern Indian population
BACKGROUND Upper surface of the proximal tibial end, tibial plateau, has a slope directed posteroinferiorly relative to the long axis of the middle of the shaft. It has important consideration in surgeries such as knee arthroplasty, high tibial osteotomy, and medical imaging of the knee joint. The aim of the present study was to estimate the tibial plateau angle (TPA) by plain radiograph in the...
متن کاملEvaluation of the posterior tibial slope on MR images in different population groups using the tibial proximal anatomical axis.
We measured the posterior tibial slope for the medial and lateral tibial plateau separately in MR images of 143 knees (71 women, 72 men) and compared the measurements between genders and different ethnic groups. For the whole population the mean medial slope was 5.7 degrees and the mean lateral slope 5.6 degrees. There was a significant difference between the medial and lateral posterior tibial...
