Poster 296: Incidence and Risk Factors for Contralateral Patellofemoral Instability
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objectives: Background: Patellofemoral joint instability is common in young athletes and often requires surgical intervention. Incidence risk factors for ipsilateral recurrence have been more discussed the literature than contralateral events. Purpose: To evaluate incidence patellofemoral patients who undergone patellar stabilization surgery. Methods: This retrospective study included 543 had medial ligament reconstruction and/or Fulkerson osteotomy as management lateral instability. The medical records of these were examined to non-surgical knee. Available imaging each affected knee was patella alta, skeletal maturity, trochlear dysplasia, tibial tubercle groove (TT-TG) distance, posterior collateral (TT-PCL) distance. Demographic such BMI, age, sex also examined. A second arm done excluding with previous history bilateral instability, assessing using same methods. yielded information about “new onset” post-stabilization Results: Of examined, 205 (37.8%) evidence Patella alta (OR, 2.4), immaturity 2.67), younger age (p<0.0001) associated increased Sex, TT-TG TT-PCL dysplasia not In study, 63 out 401 (15.71%) new onset post-surgery. Skeletal 3.65) found be Conclusions: 37.8%. Lower immaturity, new-onset 15.71% only immaturity.

Patellofemoral disorders and instability.
Originally the main idea was to obtain a stable patella, i.e., to stabilize the "slipping patella". In the past many conditions like patella alta, ligamentous laxity, PF bone hypoplasia, weakness of the quadriceps muscle, genu valgum or genu recurvatum were thought to predispose to patellar instability. For a long period muscle exercises were instituted to strengthen the weak m.vastus medialis ...

A prospective cohort study was used to quantify risk factors for sports concussions. Analysis was based on a stratified cluster sample of North Carolina high school athletes followed during 1996–1999. Clustering was by school and sport, and the sample included 15,802 athletes with 1–8 seasons of follow-up per athlete. Concussion rates were estimated for 12 sports, and risk factors were quantifi...
متن کاملChronic patellofemoral instability.
The patellofemoral joint is intrinsically unstable because the tibial tubercle lies lateral to the long axis of the femur and the quadriceps muscle, and the patella is therefore subject to a laterally directed force. This apparent ‘design fault’ is minimised by the resistance of the lateral lip of the trochlea to lateral movement of the patella during flexion (Brattström 1964). In full extensio...
متن کاملPatellofemoral instability: classification and imaging.
Patellofemoral disorders must be approached through an appropriate process of diagnostic framing, performed using language that is, as far as possible, unequivocal and a validated and organic classification system. At present, the classification proposed by the Lyonnaise school, which fulfills these requirements, is the most complete. This classification divides patellofemoral disorders into th...
متن کاملIncidence, risk factors and prevention of herpes zoster: review article
Herpes zoster (Shingles; Zona) is an acute infectious skin disease that is caused by the reactivation of varicella zoster virus (VZV). After the initial infection (chickenpox) or vaccination, the virus remains inactive or latent in the dorsal root ganglia (DRG); when decreasing cell mediated immunity (CMI) occurs, the virus is reactivated from a latent phase to a lytic phase and frequently repl...
