Poster 224: Complications Associated with Proximal Hamstring Tendon Repair: A Systematic Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objectives: Proximal hamstring tendon ruptures typically occur as a result of simultaneous hip flexion and knee extension, leading to avulsion the conjoint and/or semimembranosus tendons from their origin at ischial tuberosity. Surgical repair proximal has been shown in multiple clinical outcome studies be superior nonoperative management, with improved functional scores ability return sport postoperatively. Although several potential complications have reported literature, few comprehensively analyzed complication profile repair. The purpose this systematic review was identify overall rate following repair, differentiate these into categories, compare rates open versus endoscopic Methods: A original research articles performed using PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses) guidelines. To qualify study inclusion, included were required published English, Level 4 evidence or higher, had examine surgical ruptures. No restrictions made regarding publication date methodological quality. Data extracted calculate well major minor complications. quantitative data synthesis conducted Chi-square tests proportion patients who experienced approaches. Results: Forty-three including 2,823 repairs identified. postoperative 15.4% (n = 436). 4.6%, 0.8% re-rupture rate, re-operation 1.7% sciatic nerve injury, 0.9% venous thromboembolism (VTE), 0.4% deep infection. Minor posterior femoral cutaneous injury (2.4%), persistent sitting pain (2.3%), myopathy hematoma/seroma (0.8%), peri-incisional numbness (1.8%), superficial infection (1.1%). Endoscopic associated higher (p 0.012), 0.048), < 0.001) compared Conclusions: is an 15.4%, 4.6% There statistically significant increase treated endoscopically those underwent

Endoscopic transtendinous repair for partial-thickness proximal hamstring tendon tears.
Partial tears of the proximal hamstring tendon can successfully be managed with tendon repair in cases of failed conservative management. As in partial-thickness gluteus medius repair, a transtendinous technique can be used to repair partial-thickness undersurface tears of the hamstring origin. This report details an endoscopic transtendinous approach for the treatment of partial-thickness hams...
متن کاملSurgical repair of complete proximal hamstring tendon rupture.
BACKGROUND Complete proximal hamstring tendon rupture is a rare injury associated with significant functional loss. Nonoperative treatment has proven inadequate in returning patients to their previous activity level. PURPOSE We wanted to describe the outcome of primary surgical repair of the proximal hamstring tendon avulsion. STUDY DESIGN Retrospective cohort study. METHODS Between 1994 ...
متن کاملProximal Hamstring Repair Strength
Background: Proximal hamstring repair for complete ruptures has become a common treatment. There is no consensus in the literature about postoperative rehabilitation protocols following proximal hamstring repair. Some protocols describe bracing to prevent hip flexion or knee extension while others describe no immobilization. There are currently no biomechanical studies evaluating proximal hamst...
متن کاملOutcome After Surgical Repair of Proximal Hamstring Avulsions: A Systematic Review.
BACKGROUND At the present time, no systematic review, including a quality assessment, has been published about the outcome after proximal hamstring avulsion repair. PURPOSE To determine the outcome after surgical repair of proximal hamstring avulsions, to compare the outcome after acute (≤4 weeks) and delayed repairs (>4 weeks), and to compare the outcome after different surgical techniques. ...
متن کاملComplications after flexor tendon repair: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
PURPOSE Although outcomes after flexor tendon repair have reportedly improved with modern treatment, complications are common. The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of these complications and the potential contributory factors within the published literature. METHODS We performed a systematic review of the available literature to identify publications in which patients with...
