Metastatic adenocarcinoma involving several bones of the body and the cranio-maxillofacial region: a case report.
Malignant tumours that have metastasized to the oral and maxillofacial region from distant sites account for only 1% of all malignancies of the jaw. These metastatic tumours are most often located in the mandible, and the majority of these in the molar region. The most common primary sources of metastatic tumours found in the oral region are the lung, kidney and prostate gland for the males, an...
متن کاملComputer Assisted Planning in Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery
In cranio-maxillofacial surgery physicians are often faced with the reconstruction of massively destroyed or radically resected tissue structures caused by trauma or tumours. Also corrections of dislocated bone fragments up to the complete modeling of facial regions in cases of complex congenital malformations are common tasks of plastic and reconstructive surgeons. With regard to the individua...
متن کاملSurgical navigation in cranio-maxillofacial surgery
Introduction Surgical navigation is well-established in today’s cranio-maxillofacial surgery. However, it is often associated with extra effort for both patient and surgeon and with additional exposure to radiation due to necessary extra imaging. The cranio-orbitofacial structures are challenging with respect to accurate three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction. A virtual plan based on mirrored pa...
متن کاملGiant plexiform neurofibroma with hemorrhage in cranio-maxillofacial region as depicted on CT and MRI
Plexiform neurofibroma (PN) is a rare benign tumor and a special subtype of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Though the incidence is low, giant PN of the craniomaxillofacial region could result in severe hemifacial hypertrophy which is known as a typical manifestation of NF1 in young children. Here, we retrospectively reported a giant plexiform neurofibroma with hemorrhage in the cranio-maxillof...
