چکیده

Transforming CO2 into value-added chemicals is crucial to realizing a carbon–neutral economy, and plasma-based conversion, Power-2-X technology, offers promising route an efficient scalable process. This paper investigates the effects of post-plasma placement converging–diverging nozzle in vortex-stabilized 2.45 GHz microwave plasma reactor increase energy efficiency conversion. The CDN leads 21 % relative (31 %) conversion (13 at high flow rates near-atmospheric conditions. most significant performance improvement was seen low sub-atmospheric pressure (300 mbar), where 23 28 %, 71 over conditions without CDN. Using CFD simulations, we found that produces change geometry, leading confined temperature profile height plasma, forced extraction CO post-CDN region.

Catalytic and Non-catalytic Conversion of Methane to C2 Hydrocarbons in a Low Temperature Plasma

The direct conversion of methane to C2 hydrocarbons, in a quartz tube reactor enforced by a DC corona discharge, was investigated at atmospheric pressure. The process was carried out in the presence of metal oxide catalysts of Mn/W/SiO2, Mn/W/SiO2 (tetraethyl orthosilicate, TEOS), and Mn/W/CNT (supported on carbon nanotubes). The total yield to C2 hydrocarbons in the presence of metal oxide cat...

Taming microwave plasma to beat thermodynamics in CO2 dissociation.

The strong non-equilibrium conditions provided by the plasma phase offer the opportunity to beat traditional thermal process energy efficiencies via preferential excitation of molecular vibrations. Simple molecular physics considerations are presented to explain potential dissociation pathways in plasma and their effect on energy efficiency. A common microwave reactor approach is evaluated expe...

Microwave plasma conversion of volatile organic compounds.

A microwave-induced, steam/Ar/O2, plasma "torch" was operated at atmospheric pressure to determine the feasibility of destroying volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of concern. The plasma process can be coupled with adsorbent technology by providing steam as the fluid carrier for desorbing the VOCs from an adsorbent. Hence, N2 can be excluded by using a relatively inexpensive carrier gas, and the...
