A Non-isothermal Pore Network drying Model: Influence of Gravity
The concept of immiscible displacement as an invasion percolation (IP) process driven by heat and mass transfer is used in a pore network model for convective drying of capillary porous media. The coupling between heat and mass transfer occurs at the liquid-gas interface through temperature dependent equilibrium vapour pressure, surface tension and phase change enthalpy (in evaporation and cond...
متن کاملInvestigating Nonlinear Kelvin Model Accuracy Optimized by Genetic Algorithm for Determining Drying Behavior of Knitted Fabric
Knitted fabrics are widely used by the underwear apparel industry due to their good elasticity. Modeling the mechanical behavior of knitted fabrics using Kelvin model is one of the discussed subjects in the textile industry. The purpose of this study is to investigate the accuracy of a nonlinear Kelvin model for determining the drying behavior of knitted fabrics. To fulfill this aim, genetic al...
متن کاملViscous stabilization of drying front: three-dimensional pore network simulations
In this study, a recently developed pore network drying model (Metzger et al. 2007a), which accounts for liquid viscosity, is applied to three dimensions for the first time. Isothermal convective drying is simulated for a cubic network (25×25×50) with pore throats of mono-modal radius distribution. The role of liquid viscosity is assessed by comparison with non-viscous drying of the same networ...
متن کاملA 2-D pore-network model of the drying of single-component liquids in porous media
The drying of liquid-saturated porous media is typically approached using macroscopic continuum models involving phenomenological coecients. Insight on these coecients can be obtained by a more fundamental study at the poreand pore-network levels. In this paper, we present a model based on a pore-network representation of porous media that accounts for various processes at the pore-scale. The...
متن کاملAn Irregular Lattice Pore Network Model Construction Algorithm
Pore network modeling uses a network of pores connected by throats to model the void space of a porous medium and tries to predict its various characteristics during multiphase flow of various fluids. In most cases, a non-realistic regular lattice of pores is used to model the characteristics of a porous medium. Although some methodologies for extracting geologically realistic irregular net...
