چکیده

The effects of nine temperatures (22.5, 25.0, 27.5, 30.0, 32.5, 35.0, 37.5, 40.0, and 42.5 °C) four relative humidities (RHs; 43, 55, 63, 75%) on the population growth development parthenogenetic Liposcelis obscura Broadhead (Psocodea: Liposcelididae) were investigated in laboratory studies. Results showed that L. did not survive at 43% RH all tested. At 55% RH, survived 22.5, 25, 27.5 °C; none °C ≤63% RH. Population was highest 40.0 75% where increase 216-fold from an initial five adult females. has three-to-five nymphal instars, percentages individuals with three, four, instars 52, 41, 7%, respectively. Temperature-dependent developmental equations developed for eggs, individual nymphal, combined immature stages. populations grew much faster 30–42.5 Based equation total time, predicted optimal temperature is 39.2 completed 14.0 d. upper threshold estimated as 47.1 °C. lower 14.7 These data provide a better understanding dynamics can be used to develop effective management strategies this psocid.

Population growth and development of the psocid Liposcelis rufa (Psocoptera: Liposcelididae) at constant temperatures and relative humidities.

We investigated the effects of eight temperatures (22.5, 25.0, 27.5, 30.0, 32.5, 35.0, 37.5, and 40.0 degrees C) and four relative humidities (43, 55, 63, and 75%) on population growth and development of the psocid Liposcelis rufa Broadhead (Psocoptera: Liposcelididae). L. rufa did not survive at 43% RH, at all temperatures tested; at 55% RH, at the highest four temperatures; and at 63% RH and ...

Population growth and development of psocid Lepinotus reticulatus at constant temperatures and relative humidities.

We investigated the effects of temperature and relative humidity on population growth and development of the psocid Lepinotus reticulatus Enderlein. Part of this study assessed the effects of marking psocids by using methylene blue, chalk powder, and fluorescent powder to differentiate nymphal stages during development. We found that marking psocids by using methylene blue increased mortality a...

Morphological and molecular characterization of a sexually reproducing colony of the booklouse Liposcelis bostrychophila (Psocodea: Liposcelididae) found in Arizona

The booklouse, Liposcelis bostrychophila, is a worldwide pest of stored products. For decades, only thelytokous parthenogenetic reproduction was documented in L. bostrychophila. Male L. bostrychophila were first found in Hawaii in 2002. In 2009, a sexual strain was found in Arizona. We examined the morphology of both males and females of the Arizona strain and compared the Arizona sexual strain...

The mitochondrial genome of booklouse, Liposcelis sculptilis (Psocoptera: Liposcelididae) and the evolutionary timescale of Liposcelis

Bilateral animals are featured by an extremely compact mitochondrial (mt) genome with 37 genes on a single circular chromosome. To date, the complete mt genome has only been determined for four species of Liposcelis, a genus with economic importance, including L. entomophila, L. decolor, L. bostrychophila, and L. paeta. They belong to A, B, or D group of Liposcelis, respectively. Unlike most bi...
