Popliteal vein thrombosis associated with femoral osteochondroma and popliteal artery pseudoaneurysm.
Deep vein thrombosis is a common condition thought to be caused by impaired venous blood flow or hypercoagulable blood states. However, often no predisposing cause can be found. We describe a deep vein thrombosis formed in association with femoral osteochondroma and popliteal artery pseudoaneurysm. It is an interesting combination that has only been described once before.
متن کاملPopliteal Artery Pseudoaneurysm Associated with Osteochondroma
Osteochondroma is the most common benign bone tumor, which can sometimes cause vascular complications. Here we report two rare cases (a 48-year-old woman and a 28-year-old woman) presenting with pain and a pulsatile mass in the popliteal region. Computed tomography revealed pseudoaneurysm in the popliteal artery, which was closely associated with a protrusion of a femoral osteochondroma. Surgic...
متن کاملThrombosed Popliteal Artery Pseudoaneurysm as Herald of Tibial Osteochondroma
BACKGROUND Osteochondroma is the most common non-malignant tumour of bone, accounting for approximately one third of benign lesions in the skeleton. They often develop around the knee in the distal femur and in the proximal tibia and fibula. They present as a painless slow growing mass during adolescence and have been reported to cause damage to adjacent structures such as blood vessels; arteri...
متن کامل[Popliteal artery pseudoaneurysm caused by a femoral osteochondorma: case report].
Osteochondromas are the most common benign tumor of the bone. They are sometimes responsible for vascular complications involving either veins or arteries, principally around the knee. Pseudoaneurysms are considered a rare condition. The authors describe the occurrence of a pseudoaneurysm of the popliteal artery in association with a femoral osteochondroma in a 30-years-old man.
متن کاملMistaken Identity of Popliteal Artery Pseudoaneurysm for Deep Vein Thrombosis: a Case Report
Popliteal artery aneurysms are often incorrectly diagnosed and subsequently mismanaged with resultant preventable complications. We present a case of a swollen lower extremity clinically resembling a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), following tibial fracture fixation. It was treated as a DVT on the basis of ultrasound imaging at a different hospital. Subsequent imaging showed a popliteal artery pseu...
