Synovial cysts in juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
In a case of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis with large synovial cysts, cyst fluid aspiration was performed to relieve pain, but recurrence was prevented with salicylate therapy alone. The mechanism of formation of synovial cysts is discussed.
متن کاملAnterolateral rupture of popliteal cysts in rheumatoid arthritis.
Popliteal cysts occur commonly in both normal and arthritic knees. Most cysts are formed by distension of the medially situated semimembranosus bursa. Popliteus bursa distension occurs uncommonly as a lateral popliteal cyst. Two cases of rupture of lateral cysts which produced symptoms related to the anterolateral lower leg are reported. The difficulty of diagnosing the condition because of thi...
متن کاملAnticardiolipin Antibodies in Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Background: Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) can either occur as a primary syndrome or associated with other autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Anticardiolipin antibody (aCL) of IgG and/or IgM isotype in blood, measured by a standardized ELISA is the most acceptable laboratory criteria. APS IgG isotype, particularly IgG2 subclass is more strongly associated ...
متن کاملPopliteal venous thrombosis in juvenile arthritis with Baker cysts: report of 3 cases
Three pediatric patients with different illnesses leading to knee arthritis and large Baker cysts and additional calf swelling are reported. Calf swelling was due to true popliteal venous thrombosis and not to the much more common cause of pseudothrombophlebitis. Careful ultrasound examination can differentiate these two causes of calf swelling. Even though all our patients had risk factors for...
متن کاملNuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) tomographic imaging for popliteal cysts in rheumatoid arthritis.
The ability of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) tomographic imaging to show a change in proton spin-lattice relaxation time (T1 value) in the joints of patients with rheumatoid arthritis before and after treatment with intra-articular steroid has been assessed. Six patients with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis and clinical evidence of a popliteal cyst were examined by both NMR tomography and ...
