Pool boiling review: Part II – Heat transfer enhancement

Heat transfer enhancement by surface modification has been extensively studied in the last twenty years. However, there remains a large discrepancy among researchers on performance of enhanced surfaces even for same fluid and preparation technique. The reasons this are not understood discussed past papers, including paper reviews. Part II two-part aims to present detailed assessment pool boiling heat enhancement, relating I [1], which presented critical fundamental concepts heterogeneous nucleation. Current challenges evaluating is first discussed. smooth roughened then effect type explained. Pool data two fluids, namely water FC-72, substrate materials, i.e. copper silicon were digitized assessed order elucidate reason published works future recommendations enhancement. mechanisms adopted critically compared. contributes understanding fluid-surface combinations suggest guidelines consider when surfaces.
