Polymeric Micelles: Morphology, Synthesis, and Pharmaceutical Application

Polymeric micelles (PMs) are nanosized core-shell molecules formed by the self-assembly of amphiphilic block copolymers. Their unique morphologies, biocompatibility have allowed them to serve as drug carriers and found wide applications in pharmaceutical industry. This review summarizes recent progress PM development its field. Firstly, we discussed fundamentals polymeric micelles, formation mechanism, their relative morphologies. Then listed various common synthetic methods, including solvent-free method, solvent-switch microfluid etc. Secondly, illustrated application on targeting, imaging, stimuli-responsive release. In end, summarize fundamental aspect how prepare resulting morphology, medical Finally, provide insights into micelles’ future developments longer shelf life better environmental adaptability.
