Polymer-Cement Composites Glazing by Concentrated Solar Energy

Macro defect free (MDF) cements are polymer-cement composites characterized by high biaxial flexural strength compared to traditional concrete, having as a drawback low water resistance. Glazing these composite materials with an inorganic enamel containing TiO2 nano-particles has led water-stable material advanced photocatalytic properties. Classic glazing thermal treatment of samples, at 1050 °C, requires energy consumption and long-time performing. The purpose this paper is test the use solar radiation source in process. A vertical axis furnace been used, from PROMES-CNRS Solar Laboratory, Font-Romeu Odeillo, France, it observed that uniform appearance glaze coating achieved; shows scratch resistance, meaning good hardness adhesion substrate. obtained film was also SEM, EDS XRD, aiming evidence coat morphology, distribution its crystallinity alteration, when samples classic treatment. conclusion using MDF cement process promising approach for obtaining multifunctional materials.
